IN THIS EPISODE:

Well, I had been prepared to have a nice, quiet, relaxing New Year's Eve but those plans got thwarted when my old narcissist former-best-friend reared up once more and attempted to plant seeds into my fiance's head that I'm crazy. Gunner told me that he had called him to wish him a Happy New Year, and the guy once again brought up my supposed "crazy" jealousy. If any of you have known someone with true narcissistic personality disorder, then you might be familiar with the term "gaslighting." It simply means a tactic of manipulation by which a person covertly makes another doubt themselves, lose their confidence, question their sanity, and tries to ensure everyone else around them questions their sanity, too. The underlying motivation behind it is usually one of power, but underneath that it's just plain ol' insecurity and some deep-seeded issues. If you'd like to read an article about it, here's an article from Psychology Today about "Gaslighting."

But in the end, I still know my worth and my own sanity, and of course, my faith protects me from those who want to do me harm. After a frustrating night, I finally manage to put it behind me.
