IN THIS EPISODE:

This isn't a long episode, but it's a profound one. In here I talked about how I sent out Christmas cards, one of my favorite holiday traditions. This time around though, I wrote a letter to include for friends and family. In the letter I mention how one of my big projects 7 months out from Alan's homecoming was to start preparing "stuff" for him. Because he literally had nothing of his own to bring with him when he paroled. He had his state issued prison uniform, shoes, a toothbrush, some soap, and prison issued socks and underwear. And of course, his typewriter, manuscripts, and letters from me. That's it. I wasn't writing that so that others could donate or step up to help, I just wanted them to understand that life was going to be challenging for both Gunner and me upon his release. All I really wanted them to know was that I'd appreciate prayers, and their love and support of his homecoming. As you'll see in later episodes, that request fell on some deaf ears.
